Signs of Suicide® (SOS) Prevention Program

Franklin Local Schools, in collaboration with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, is implementing the “Signs of Suicide® (SOS) Prevention Program” this year.  We are hosting an SOS informational session for all Franklin Local parents on February 25th at 6:00 in the Philo High School Auditeria.

SOS is a nationally-known school-based suicide prevention program that parents and schools have found to be a very positive experience. It reduces the stigma of depression and lets students and adults know that they are capable of helping students in need of support.

The goal of the program is to prevent and reduce suicidal behavior by expanding the safety net for students experiencing mental and emotional distress. The SOS program also helps students recognize warning signs of suicide in a friend and provides them with an appropriate response.

Again, the 1-hour parent meeting is scheduled for 6:00 Monday, February 25th in the Philo High School Auditeria.  We would love to see you there.
