The Franklin Local School District serves the children, families, and communities of Chandlersville, Duncan Falls, Philo, and Roseville, staying true to its mission of building an academic foundation for students’ future successes. The district offices are located in Duncan Falls, Ohio, two minutes off State Route 60. Nestled along the shores of the Muskingum River within a total population of nearly 12,700, Franklin Local is conveniently located about 20 minutes from Interstate 70 and Zanesville. Franklin Local also is proud to partner with Mid-East Career and Technology Centers, Muskingum University, Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center, Ohio University-Zanesville, and Zane State College on a variety of educational projects.

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) recognized our high school as a “School of Promise,” which highlights schools that are making substantial progress to ensure all students achieve at high levels. Battelle for Kids also recognized our district with a “Most Improved Award” because our students made tremendous gains in value-added growth.

As an “Excellent” district in 2012, we are pleased with our performance on the new A to F report card. Franklin Local earned A’s and B’s on most measures. Under the Progress component that measures the growth we are making with all students, our district earned an A. This “A” means that, on average, our teachers are helping students make two years’ worth of growth in one year’s time!
