College Credit Plus Information

College Credit Plus is Ohio’s dual enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking courses from Ohio colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and postsecondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families. CCP and all alternative dual enrollment programs previously governed by Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3365.  Course work becomes a permanent record on the student’s transcript, as well as the high school transcript.

Our district offers many opportunities for students to obtain college credits while attending Philo High School through the College Credit Plus (CCP) Program. Students can enroll in college credit courses during the regular school day taught by our CCP credentialed staff at Philo High School or online through our affiliation with Hocking College and Rhodes State College. Students may also choose to obtain college credits at one of the nearby colleges, as we are in close proximity to Ohio University-Zanesville, Zane State College, Ohio University-Newark and Central Ohio Technical College.

Eligibility

The state has released the following guidance regarding eligibility for College Credit Plus. Eligibility does not mean a student is able to enroll in any college or CCP course. There are often additional admission requirements for coursework in English, Math, and Science, for example. Should you fit any of the below descriptions – you can consider if College Credit Plus is a good fit to meet your goals:

  1. Obtains a remediation-free score on one of the standard assessment exams used by participating institutions of higher education; or
  2. Has a cumulative unweighted high school grade point average of at least 3.00; or
  3. Has a cumulative unweighted high school grade point average of at least 2.75 but less than 3.00 and received an “A” or “B” grade in a relevant high school course.
  4. If the student is in seventh or eighth grade and a cumulative unweighted high school grade point average is not available to determine eligibility, the student is eligible if the student has received an “A” or “B” grade in a relevant high school course.

If a student is seeking to participate under section 3365.033 of the Revised Code and a cumulative unweighted high school grade point average is not available to determine eligibility under division (A)(1)(b) or (c) of this rule, the student is eligible if the student has received an “A” or “B” grade in a relevant high school course.
